NaNoFailMo

Okay, so I didn't make the goal of 50,000 words. Still about 15,000 short but I'm glad I tried. It was a great experience and I'll definitely sign up again. No excuses and I'm sure that there are plenty of other folks who were similarly afflicted but I did enjoy it. This first time out taught me that if I focused on getting the words out instead of how many words, then I could possibly get closer to or even attain my goal.

I'm not alone in my failure. Even mega-superstar historical author Carolyn Jewel missed her target. Her attitude about the lack of meeting a 2000 plus daily word count inspired her to open up her blog for fellow crashers to commiserate. In honor of Carolyn, who is seriously talented, and all the rest of us slackers, I give you Beck's international anthem that was probably running through everyone's head on or around November 30:

Pamala, you make me laugh!! I do not associate you in any way with that Beck song -- LOL -- and I'm impressed that you got about 35k written in a month. WAY more than I wrote! Hope you're having a great weekend ;).

The magnitude of my NaNo failure is EPIC. If that makes me a mega-superstar, I am willing to accept that. (heh!) Thank you very much for the compliment.

Marilyn, that Beck song is one of my all time favorites, so I'm not unhappy to be associated with it. I just hope that the fun, tongue-in-cheek fun I'm poking at myself doesn't morph into a permanent place in loserville, lol.

Carolyn!! OMG, once I stopped hyperventilating and fangirl squeeing, I could read your comment. Your mega-superstardom comes on the back of all those fabulous novels that I (and many others) love so well. It just gave me comfort to know that even ultra talents such as yourself (and Ms. Brant above) have difficulty churning out the NaNoWriMo targeted word count. I might put my condo in Loserville up for rent ;-). Thanks for stopping by!

That 35,000 is STILL a significant accomplishment. I congratulate you!

You are so NOT a loser, and if I ever hear you using that word in the same sentence as yourself again, I will come up there and wash your mouth out with glitter and rainbows so you get the hint how AWESOME you are, you got me, missy?

Teresa, HI!! Thanks for the nice words about my 35K words.

Pamela my sweet! What is with all the animosity towards my love of Beck??? ;-) I love that song and just thought it apropos since I missed my target. Don't worry, I'll refrain from using the L word from now on, okay? *smooch*
