I've reached the portion in my new story where I'll be stretching and expanding my current creations. It's time for world building. I'm very excited because usually I love that portion of the other fantasy/paranormal novels I've read. There are authors who are particularly talented at this--Patrick Rothfuss springs to mind as does JK Rowling, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Octavia Butler, and the master--Tolkien, plus too many others to name.
So, I'm stoked about the descriptions, figuring out the particulars and getting everything just so. Hopefully what I'll accomplish is to make all the colors in my mind translate to the page.

I love that part of writing! At that stage it seems like anything goes and the story is limited only by your imagination. I hope you're having fun with it. :-)
Thanks booklady! My greatest revelation so far is that even if I've built this elaborate fantasy world, I don't have to describe it in the manuscript in exorciating detail. As long as I explain the pertinent stuff and give the reader enough information to imagine their version of the world, especially in the way that it relates to the story,then I should be all right. But, that said, it might be easier typed than done, LOL.
